Club Flight Schedule

For 2010, we will continue with the same Sport and Competition flight schedule used in 2007, 2008, and 2009:

Guidelines for NBC Sport Events

Sport Flights on the third Saturday afternoons of the month (three hours before sunset) during the months of February through November (September excepted) from Lake Zorinsky unless otherwise noted. Balloonmeisters will be responsible for organizing each flight, notifying NBC members during the preceding week, weather trending/forecasting, selecting the launch site, specifying the competition event, and organizing a post-flight social activity. Except for the months of March and July when General Membership Meetings are planned, organization of a social event is at the prerogative of the Balloonmeister.
Because the sport event is an opportunity for members to socialize, the social event which follows the flight event is just as important to the NBC as the associated flight event. The social event should be pre-arranged. Home socials, pot lucks, cookouts, post-flight tailgate gatherings, whatever, are encouraged. Informal general membership meetings may be incorporated into the social activity anytime at the request of the membership or Executive Committee. Emails to clubmembers@nebraskaballoonclub.org should be sent out two week before the event to publicize the social event’s location and time (with and without the flight).
Plan a "sport" fly event that is fun. At the Balloonmeister’s option, scoring can be used. Non-pilot and crew skills could be utilized and are encouraged.

Guidelines for NBC Competition Events

Competition flights on the first Saturday morning of the month (at sunrise) during the months of April through November (July excepted). Volunteer Balloonmeisters will be responsible for organizing each flight, notifying NBC members during the preceding week, weather trending/forecasting, selecting the launch site, specifying the competition event, turning in the scoring results to the Race Committee Chairman, and organizing any post-flight social activity.
Because the competition flights are meant to be a training exercise for NBC members in preparation for other weekend rallies or Indianola where knowledge of the rules is needed and results are based on flying skills, the following guidelines are presented. Task(s) must generate a measureable result and numerical score based upon the skills of the pilot.
Monthly NBC Competitive Events shall be conducted and scored using BFA Sanctioned Competition Rules, Regulations, Policies and Procedures - 2009
It is not required that everyone, even the Balloonmeister, read and digest this document but merely recognize that decisions of the NBC Race Committee will use this as a reference document for resolving questions arising from a task. The objective of the competition flight is still to promote friendly competition. As stated in the NBC Competition Rules, "No protests will be accepted or allowed."

October 16-17 - Wayne Mohring (in Wakefield)
November 6 - Rich Jaworski
December - no flight
