Michael Jones of Omaha is a private pilot and owner of Emerald City Express. Michael's association with ballooning began through Wayne Mohring, and developed after he attended the BOI Ground School in February 2009. Michael joined the NBC shortly thereafter, and began flight instruction with Tom Peterson. Michael's balloon, a 1994 Aerostar AX-8 was purchased in March 2010 after a flight with Matthew Grote sold him on the benefits of dual burners. On Michael's inaugural flight on May 31 from Waterloo, NE, he was accompanied in flight by NBC pilots Rich Jaworski, Steve Lacroix, and Matthew Grote. Michael earned his Private Pilot certificate on September 21, 2010 after successfully completing his checkride in St. Louis, MO under the watchful eye of DPE Brian Trapp of Lebanon, OH.
