Michael Jones of Omaha is a student pilot and owner of Emerald City Express. Michael's association with ballooning began through Wayne Mohring, and developed after he attended the BOI Ground School in February 2009. Michael joined the NBC shortly thereafter, and began flight instruction with Tom Peterson. Michael's balloon, a 1994 Aerostar AX-8 was purchased in March 2010 after a flight with Matthew Grote sold him on the benefits of dual burners. On Michael's inaugural flight on May 31 from Waterloo, NE, he was accompanied in flight by NBC pilots Rich Jaworski, Steve Lacroix, and Matthew Grote.
