Matthew Grote is holds a Commercial Pilot rating and flies Jester Unwindz, a National AX-8 (90,000 cu. ft.).  Matthew took delivery of this new envelope March 12, and took it up on the inaugural flight March 15, 2008.

After more than 15 years of chasing and crewing, nearly two years of flying, and an additional year of instruction under Rich Jaworski and Tom Peterson, on June 30th, 2007, Matthew added a Commercial Pilot rating to his pilot certificate.  This followed Matthew's November 20th, 2005 fulfillment of all the requirements and successful completion of the flight examination for his Private Pilot license.  Matthew became involved in ballooning at a very early age (one) when his parents and grandparents took him to the Nationals at Indianola, IA.  In the years hence, Matthew has crewed and supported just about every pilot in the Nebraska Balloon Club (NBC).  He was awarded the 2004 NBC "Crew Person of the Year" award for his help and support to our little balloon community.
