Jim Gunhus has been around ballooning for several years, beginning as a sponsor for one of the rallies in Norfolk, NE in the early 1980s.  His interest was solidified in August, 2004 when he and Jenni flew as passengers during an eventful flight that terminated (briefly) on a sandbar in the Platte River.  Yellow Bird is a National AX-7 and was designed by Jim and Jenni.  The name refers to a once-popular song that Jim's grandparents frequently played for Jim when he was a lad of four.

Jim holds a commercial pilot's license, and is Vice President of the Nebraska Balloon Club.
