LocalPilot Deserving of Prestigious Award– Published in BlairEnterprise News April 21,2023 –EditorialBlair resident Rich Jaworski washonored for his hot air ballooning feats once again on Saturday,where he earned the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award. This award is given to pilots who haveaccumulated 50 or more years of flight experience. Jaworski’s piloting history is vast,dating back to 1972, when he became the first native Nebraskanlicensed to fly a hot air balloon, pioneering the activity in thestate. Following that, Jaworski went on tobreak three world records — one in distance of flight and two inhot air balloon duration of flight — and gain more experienceflying more than 2,800 hours with more than 7,000 passengers. Jaworski was also inducted into theNebraska Aviation Hall of Fame in 2017, and into the BalloonFederation of America’s National Ballooning Hall of Fame. He served as Nebraska Balloon Clubpresident from 2001-2019, and is also a published author.
